stop and stare part 2

we were literally everywhere the last few days. from one end of the city to the other and back. it was rainy, it was sunny. but always beautiful and always in good company. reminiscing times before maddy leaves us to go back to arizona on saturday. sleepovers, ghost stories, donuts, beaches, getting locked out of cars in the gas station (my fault), pizza, twin peaks (100 times).

if you didn't see our music video, you should watch it.

also, bryan OFFICIALLY comes home next month!!!

writing prompt

"start with the day of the week it is... then let your stream of consciousness take it from there."

(sidenote: i was reading meggy's blog and she's doing writing
prompts and i realized it's been forever since i did one. so here you are)

today is (*checks calander*) tuesday. which means tomorrow is wednesday which means the next day is thursday. and i hate thursdays more than any other day of the week. know why? it's like, the weekend is tempting you but it's not quite there (also waiting for a letter, it comes any day from thursday to saturday, the suspense is wretched). hopefully this weekend, i can actually do something. i've felt a little trapped the last few weeks but hey, i guess that's part of growing up.

i don't like growing up. it has it's perks sometimes, but i miss being a kid. you know what i miss the most? saturday morning cartoons. i also miss waking up early while my dad was getting ready for work and eating breakfast with him. just me and him. then i'd go snuggle up in bed with my mom. those were the days.

today me and my (former) roommates were reminiscing about freshmen year. what a great year. there was something magical about it. me and megan confirmed together that there was in fact magic during that time. somehow. the place. the people. the adventures. all of it. i miss it.

i also miss bryan. my best friend in the world. only 304 days till he comes home. that's 10 months from today. i love missionaries. it sort of freaks me out that i have friends coming home from missions this year. like, people my age that i graduated with. it makes me feel so old. i remember when people younger than me started leaving on missions. THAT made me feel old.

another thing that makes me feel old is that i officially didn't go to school with anyone at layton high now. everyone i've gone to school with, is graduated. people my age and younger are getting married and having kids. it sort of makes me panic sometimes like, i'm behind everyone else but then it's like "wait. i'm only 20. i've got PLENTY of time for that."

it's so weird cause outside of utah, people don't get married  that young. even 20. even like, 26! my singles ward, they're all older. they're all graduated from college and are set in their careers. it's crazy, at one point, i was the youngest person there. and they are all happily unmarried. so, even though i get a little intimidated when someone tells me "oh, i'm just finishing up law school" or "oh, i'm just a scientist using stem cells to find a cure for cancer" and i'm just like "i'm a nanny. i did one year of college" i think it's awesome that they are living their lives and have a great career and aren't part of the 'utah norm' even though a lot of them are, in fact, from utah. and it reminds me that there is no rush. it's not a race to be the first one of your friends married with 10 kids.

i plan to travel at least a little before i have kids. i know, i know. EVERYONE says that but, it's my dream to go to greece. when i was home, my dad was saying that when i'm married to just do it. him and my mom wish they would have gone to france when they were first married. just swiped the cards and gone cause it would have been easier to pay it off before they had kids. so, that's my plan. swipe the card and head to greece. if that's the only country i visit in my life (besides U.S. and mexico) i will die happy. i also want to do a cross-country roadtrip. hit every state (aside from hawaii and alaska) in like, 2-3 weeks. live out of the car and hit a few states a day. you dream going to a fancy hotel in some tropical paradise and i want to live out of my car for a month. (hahahahaha) but really. it would be an adventure of a lifetime. i've also decided i want to live in alaska for a few years. i've thought about it a lot the past few months. and it would just be cool. it's out of utah and it's not california. and who lives in alaska? no one! it would be so cool.

back to reality. i work a full day tomorrow. and i just went from wednesday to living in alaska. it's sort of like the telephone game or gossiping where things get warped and changed only, it's all in my own mind. now if you'll excuse me, i've got a room to clean and pretty little liars to watch.

goodnight. i love you all!

neverland

today is thursday. which means instagram is filled with #throwbackthursday photos.
as you know, i love tbt, so today i posted this photo:

this was taken on september 23, 2011. not that long ago right?
well, in response to the picture, one of these lovely ladies above commented:

"i know we have all said this a million times, but i miss this"

it's insane how fast life moves! like, i absolutely LOVE where i am
and what i'm doing right now but, things were simpler when this photo was taken.
and about the same time of this photo, i was thinking high school was simpler.
and in high school, i thought jr high was simpler and so on and so forth.

i guess as life gets better, it also becomes more complicated.
ever since i started watching once upon a time, i've become a little fairy tale obsessed,
peter pan has always been a favorite. and the idea of neverland is just... no words.
looking back on moments in my life, i wish i could have been in neverland
so that moment could last just a little longer and i didn't have to grow up quite yet.

i live 700 miles away from my friends and family. 2,700 miles from
my boyfriend. i have a job where i will have to pay taxes for the first time.

i'm not complaining, but as you should already know, i'm a big reminiscer.

as ferries bueller once said:

things i learned in college

i've been not-a-student-but-still-a-student-age for about 8 months now (holy... that long?!) and i was just looking through my pictures from school and reminiscing and thought of all the important things i learned throughout my college career of one year:

-dancing is the answer to everything
-oth > sleep
-food > sleep
-2 am betos bike runs give you such a rush
-sweats are there to save your day
-roommate bonding is key
-so is reliability
-also, pinterest
-stacy's mom has got it going on
-hip hop classes make you act like a crazy/ drunk person
-werewolf and idiot will forever be my favorite games
-sledding on a mattress is dangerous and fun
-you will never understand how awkward 6 19-year old girls can be until you walk into their apartment and they all just stare at you without saying a single word
-playing hunger games > sleep
-hide and seek > sleep
-its possible to survive without a car. i somehow made it home almost every weekend... now that i think back to it, how on earth did i manage..?
-climb all the things
-you won't starve to death, there is ALWAYS an activity happening that will offer free food
-sisters before misters
-hoes before bros
-girlfriends before boyfriends (<-- came up with that one all on my own..................)
-someone just buy a plunger so you don't have to shamefully walk across the hall to borrow one
-setting up camp in your apt is just as good as outside
-late runs to the temple are the best. until a guy keeps walking past and you have to call someone to pick you up at 2 am
-anything > sleep

-i miss my best friends:(

baby beluga

i feel like i've been doing lots of reminiscing lately, but driving home from palm springs (a post to come, once i recuperate) we listened to kidz bop probably 7 of the 9 hours. and it got me thinking "wow. my parents NEVER put on kids music and now i understand why" but then i got thinking harder... yes they did. and they loved it as much as i did! did anyone else listen to baby beluga by raffi?

if you haven't, maybe it won't be as fun for you to listen to as it did for me because i grew up with it, but you should still give it a listen:) anyways, i downloaded the album on itunes the second i got home (after my dad sent me clips of all the songs). my dad said "it's kind of comforting" and he couldn't be more correct. i'm gonna burn it for little girl for her birthday this week. and probably listen to it myself a couple (or a lot) times throughout the week.

anyways. enough rambling. have a wonderful night!

4 years

this is me and my bestie megan at the beginning of our senior year of high school, back then we would ALWAYS talk about how we wished we could fast forward 4 years.

that was 2 years ago. we're half way through that time we wanted to fast forward through. and i don't think either of us are where we thought or planned we'd be. for better or for worse. for example, i never in my wildest dreams would have thought i'd be living 770 miles away from her in san francisco, ca. we both had boyfriends at the time (mine being the same one i have now and hers being someone neither of us really even talk to anymore) we wanted to fast forward and get married and start our lives and families. but, i think what we would have fast forwarded through would have been something sad to miss out on for the both of us, such as being roommates and adding 4 more to a friendship or break ups and girls nights. or how boring and predictable life would have been if our lives had gone EXACTLY how we'd planned them to be at the ripe age of 17.

and now here we are. and who knows what else the Lord has in store for us two.
i'm just grateful that one thing hasn't changed; the fact that i still have my sugar plum as a best
friend. always one text or phone call away.

simplicity

i was so thrilled to see this on a walk the other day.
remember when life used to be this fun and easy? not that life
isn't fun, but it's not as easy as it once was.
